What
Is It?
The Declaration of Geneva Ceremony, which precedes
the graduation ceremony, is held at the Hobart Town Hall and is open to all family and friends of a graduating
student.
The Ceremony takes place because of the encouragement
of the late Dr Keith Millingen and others who recognised that the
opportunity to publicly acknowledge the individual doctors responsibility
to patients and society, historically based on the Hippocratic Oath,
is an important part of the transition from student to doctor.

Declaration of Geneva.
The date is placed on the University's graduations
website early each year but with no time indicated.

Follow the link to Future Ceremonies. This year's ceremony will be
held on December 16, 2009.
Academic Gowns
Please make sure to get your academic gowns the day before between 2pm and 8pm from the Lower Level Uni Centre, Sandy Bay Campus.

Graduation Day Timetable
The day of graduation is a busy one for students.
Click here for the Graduation Day timetable.
Graduation Handbook
The handbook is quite extensive and it is recommended
that students check the handbook and the website if they have queries.
In the handbook it states that students are allocated
three tickets and can apply for more depending on availability.
In past years students have also negotiated with fellow students
who may not need all three tickets.
Graduation Photo
Each year the School takes a group photo prior
to the Declaration of Geneva Ceremony. The cost is $5.00 per photo
(not including postage). To order copies please email Admin@med.utas.edu.au.
The photo is taken standing in front of the Hotel Grand Chancellor, on the steps, after the Graduation
ceremony. An example is displayed at the top of this page.
