LAUNCESTON CLINICAL SCHOOL

Welcome

On behalf of the Launceston Clinical School team, my colleagues in the Launceston General Hospital and my colleagues in General Medicine and in the Community, I would like to welcome all new students to the Launceston Clinical School and welcome returning students.

The Launceston Clinical School has an established standard of commitment to education and there are great opportunities for you to develop your clinical competence.

The Launceston General Hospital is a tertiary referral facility and you will be exposed to a wide range of clinical opportunities. Equally our colleagues in the community will expose you to the challenging variety of urban, suburban and rural practice. The Launceston General Hospital is a 280 bed public hospital providing acute care facilities for residents of Launceston and the Northern Region of Tasmania, Australia.

For further information on the facilities at the Launceston General Hospital, please visit their website.

You will also have opportunities to extend yourself in new fields and many of you may choose to take up electives in 6th Year that might extend previous experience or indeed foster new areas of involvement, such as teaching, third world medicine, etc.

Our team is always enthusiastic for feedback and comment and we look forward to your active participation in this regard.

I wish you all a very exciting and rewarding 2008.
